Cinderella goes to the ball....

The countdown has begun...

My "Lonely Only" is about to graduate and her PROM is Saturday. It's kinda like getting Cinderalla ready for the ball only without the help of a fairy godmother. But we're getting there...

Prom dress, accessories, photographer, hair appointments, makeup... and the list just keeps on getting longer. Oh and did I mention one extremely nervous, picky, demanding and tempermental teenager?

This kid marches to the beat of her own drum. She could not wear a prom dress like the other girls. In her words... "I refuse to look like a cream puff...

or even remotely like Cinderella."

She had to go celebrity style. So celebrity style it is... my nerves are shot... but the dress is bought... and I'll post pics sometime in the near future.

Oh.The.Joys.

It's gonna be a long week.

:) I don't want to rub it in or anything, but our preparation for the prom (on May 10) has been "mom, I need some money". That was it. He's renting a tux, getting his hair cut, and buying a corsage. Of course he also has to pay for dinner and pitch in on the limo, and then there's photos......

But you have all that PLUS the emotions.

Oh My...I can't even imagine.

(um but right about now, I am really glad I have a BOY....All I will have to do is rent him a tux and get him a haircut!)

Barbara - that's okay... rub it in ;)
Seriously, girls are expensive from the time they hit puberty!

Meleah - I wish it was that easy! Although a part of me does enjoy preparing for the special day... :)

I think I made a spectacle of myself at my Prom..it was so long ago it's kinda fuzzy...:)))

You will survive this. And enjoy it. I remember my older son's prom (he lived with me after my divorce) and the pics. It seems like it was two days ago. He turns 31 on Saturday and has been married 2 years!

Robert why does that NOT surprise me? :)

Thanks Judd. I know I will. Seems like yesterday I was changing diapers. Time really does fly...

I'm so excited for the both of you and can't wait to see the pictures. I bet you're both exhausted, with a lot to do. It's so different having a boy, so it's fun to hear about the preparation from the stand point of girl. Thank you for sharing and I wish I could be there to help.

Also, I agree with her about Barbie's dresses. I'm writing a post about Sleeping Beauty right now, and she could have learned a thing or two from Justine.

For example, had Sleepy Head been more individualistic she may not have slept her life away.

Plus, this is a great statement, "I refuse to look like a cream puff.."

(Smile)

That's a perfect sentence~

I hope she has a terrific time and tell her congratulations. And congrats to you too Mom~ Can you believe you made it this far? I couldn't believe that I had.

Hang in there~ :))

Huge hug, and congrats again~ Ann

I hope you both get through this week with smiles and good memories! I can't even think so far ahead yet. But, it sounds like a good "bonding" experience!

Sounds more like you're getting ready for a wedding. A prom photographer? That's a new one on me...but then again, I'm getting old.

Enjoy every hectic, harried, frantic minute of the this week. The memories will be worthwhile in a few years from now/

Awwww...I cannot wait to see pics! The young men getting dapper for the evening. And the young ladies getting dolled up! Special times indeed...and yes, all too fleeting of a moment.

I shall send you some Kleenex for the evening!

Thanks Ann... it's a milestone that's for sure! We're hangin' in there... by a thread! LOL

Say it - We're bonded at the hip :) Her biggest worry is that she might develop a pimple before the big day!

Lee - photographer is a must. Did I mention tanning salon and nail appointment? LOL You would not believe the things they think are so important!

Thanks Steve... I'll probably need them. I will be posting pics... cause I am a proud mama!
